  On a recent family vacation to Custer State Park, we discovered this local favorite while we were in town one evening. They offer an amazing selection of ice creams, pies, malts and shakes with very generous servings. Several of us had ice cream, I had piece of their amazing peanut-butter pie and one of us had a malt. They were all VERY good-sized and tasted excellent. The appearance and decor of the shop is wonderful as well. With it's bright purple siding and purple pig statue on the front porch, you can't miss it from the road. The interior of the shop has a very homey, country feel, decorated in eclectic but fun colors and patterns. It is clearly a very popular place both with the locals and with travelers, so you might expect a line/somewhat of a wait if you come during peak times. There is a small, outdoor patio area as well along with seating on the wrap-around front porch. There is a decent sized parking lot directly adjacent to the building but also plenty of streetside parking in downtown Custer. If you're in the area and craving ice cream, pie, or a malt, you definitely need to visit the Purple Pie Place!

  The purple decor and exterior is pretty fun however the desert options weren't anything special. Kids had ice cream which is a typical Blue Bunny selection you can find in any grocery. I had the strawberry Rhubarb Jalapeno pie. While it is an adventurous pie, it was soggy and bland. They only offer mini half n half cups. I prefer a cold cream options for my coffee. It was end of season so maybe it was just an off day.
