  We had a good experience here. The butternut squash soup was excellent. The pulled sparerib sandwich was served with home-made pickled vegetables that reminded us of the way vegetables are often served in Bavaria. The meat was definitely too salty, and prices a bit high. Service was excellent, and the owner was a marvel to watch, transitioning seamlessly from hostess to bus person to server while also darting in and out of the kitchen. It was worth eating there just to watch her in action. The dining room was pleasant and infused with a warm, home town ambience.

  Stopped by Custer for lunch. It took us 10 minutes for us to get our menus, and another 10 for them to bring our drinks. The place wasn't even crowded, so I don't know why it took so long. We ordered as soon as we could, because if the service so far was any indication, we would be here for a long time. After waiting a while, our server came by and told us it would be ready soon, and apologized for the slow service because they were very busy. We were one of the only tables there. We finally got our food, except for one member of our party, who had to wait longer because the cooks FORGOT about her food, which is rediculous no matter what, but even more when that person is one of your few current patrons. I can't praise the food either, the fish and chips I ordered were a disappointment, the fish was burnt beyond repair and the fries were bland. I would not return here if I was paid.
